In 2005 sofa.com set out to sell a better sofa at a better price than any other high street store, offering incredible customer service and great value.

Today, sofa.com is known for the quality of its products and unrivalled customer service across the web, phone and its destination showrooms, located in London and Bath.

Sofa.com allows customers to customise their sofa with ease. First they choose their preferred style from a variety of sizes, then they pick from 100 fabrics available in the house range.

Customers can also upholster their sofa in a designer fabric of their choice. Accompanying the in-store offering, sofa.com’s user-friendly website allows customers to see all the sofa styles mocked up in every fabric, as well as order free fabric samples to try out at home.

With a successful omnichannel approach in place, sofa.com teamed up with Hitachi Capital in January 2014 to offer interest free credit to customers. Initially only provided via the Chelsea showroom, an electronic e-signature was used in store to ensure customers’ purchase was simple and easy.

  • Following on from this, Hitachi Capital’s Magento plug-in was utilised to integrate finance on the sofa.com website in time for the Christmas period which is traditionally the busiest period of the year for the retailer. Sofa.com promoted interest free credit in a typically quirky way, with the strapline:

  • “Taking the ouch out of couch: why not make buying a sofa a bit more comfortable?”

  • Julian Neal, Commercial Director of Sofa.com said “Hitachi Capital have been a great partner, we were able to launch Finance online in just a matter of weeks. The finance proposition has proven to be hugely successful too, enabling new customers to purchase an extremely comfy sofa from sofa.com.”

  • Sofa.com continues to grow their omnichannel offering through more selected showroom openings, including a new site in Bath that is opening in November 2014.

  • The relationship between sofa.com and Hitachi Capital has created opportunities for both parties, adding to the ongoing success of both businesses.
