Here at Hitachi Capital Invoice Finance (HCIF), we’re extremely proud of our workforce. After all, without their expertise and passion, we wouldn’t be able to offer such an exemplary service to our customers.
That’s why, each month, we’ve decided to shine a spotlight on a member of the team, in our new employee Q&A series.
First up in the hot seat is Jamie Repton, Regional Head of Sales (Growth in the South of England). With just 10 minutes on the clock, let’s go…
Q1 Sum up your role at HCIF in one sentence
I manage a team of Business Development Managers in the South of England, primarily focused on Funding Lines between £150,000 and £1 million. I also foster my own direct relationships with clients – covering the Thames Valley area – which I still love to do.
Q2 What’s your favourite thing about your job?
I really enjoy venturing out to meet new prospects and getting to know a variety of characters from ‘weird and wonderful’ organisations – no two days are the same!
Q3 How did you become a Regional Head of Sales?
I first began my career in finance as a credit controller at the age of 19. I then spent the next five years working in the operational side before switching to sales.
I joined the Hitachi Capital Invoice Finance team in 2013 as a Business Development Manager. After some success in the role I was eventually promoted to my current position – it’s been quite a journey!
Q4 What drew you towards choosing HCIF as an employer?
HCIF’s reputation precedes itself. I knew, before joining seven years ago that it would be a good company to work for, and it still is to this day.
Q5 Describe the Hitachi Capital UK ethos in just three words
‘Harmony, Sincerity & Pioneering Spirit’. Four words but it’s the official company ethos so I hope it’s allowed!
Q6 What’s been your favourite project so far and why?
The project of splitting the business into separate core, growth and corporate departments gave us all a clear understanding of approaching small, medium, and large businesses. It was a decision which, in my opinion, totally transformed the organisation.
Q7 For a bit of fun, if HCIF were a variety of biscuit, which would it be and why?
Although I’m not really a biscuit lover, I would have to say a ‘Nice’ biscuit because the company has been around for many years and we’re always a safe and reliable choice.
Q8 Finally, if you could give one piece of advice to your 10-year-old self, what would it be?
Travel to all the places you want to visit before March 2020!
