Hitachi Capital reveals Britain is a nation of kitchen lovers
With the recent warm weather and extra bank holiday for the Royal Wedding providing the feel good factor for many consumers, retailers will be looking to capitalise on the uplifted spirit of the nation, but not until Saturday!
With the Royal Wedding the subject on everyone’s lips, a staggering 95 per cent of UK DIY-ers will be putting their Bank Holiday chores on hold until Saturday, to watch the Royal nuptials. The remaining five per cent admitted they won’t let the wedding get in the way of their home improvements or DIY shopping on Friday.
This recent survey by Hitachi Capital Consumer Finance, the UK's leading finance provider of point of sale credit solutions, also revealed 36 per cent of consumers would prioritise a makeover in the kitchen above any other room in the house; with the average spend amounting to £6,000. It seems the UK is a nation of kitchen dwellers and with Kate and William still to decide on their first home, the kitchen is sure to be at the heart of any decision they make.
Bank Holidays are the perfect time to dust down the tool box and get to the DIY store for all those makeover needs. Over a quarter (27 per cent) of those surveyed went on to agree that DIY is a cost effective way of doing up the home and over 10 per cent feeling that DIY is a good stress buster.
Hitachi Capital Consumer Finance has links with numerous retailers across the UK and places great emphasis on the proactive and profitable support it provides to aid clients in retailing their goods and services both online and in store.
(OnePoll surveyed 2,000 consumers in the UK aged 18+ on 20th April 2011.)
